Original - A Day of Celebration, Oil on canvas, 1902.
Reason
Shows the painting style of this notable female painter from Sweden. Her work encompasses potraits, landscapes and still life, but she is best known for her indoor scenes of nineteenth century Swedish Bourgeoisie, whereof this painting is perhaps the best example (certainly one of the most widely appreciated ones). This comes hot off the Public Domain rollers because her death was 70 years ago on April 24 this year. (Found via P. S. Burton's user page)

  • if her death was 70 years ago on April 24 this year, doesn't that mean it will be in PD once this year is over? I.e. on Jan 1st 2011? I thought that is how the expiry terms work (at least in Germany). --Dschwen 17:16, 21 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
    • List of countries' copyright length. Both Sweden and the USA have the "year end" clause, so I guess those who die in January get a copyright advantage, and we should make a memo for this to be undeleted again in January '11. Anybody here a Commons admin? Papa Lima Whiskey (talk) 17:34, 21 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
