Uploaded by Gustroveio (notify). Unfree image (does not permit commercial use or modification). Even if it is re-licensed, it should be deleted; it is used in the GNAA article and captioned as "Photo of a GNAA member taken in front of an office building" - how on Earth can we verify that? - Mike Rosoft 08:32, 26 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Who says the image must be free? There are tons of fair use ony images on Wikipedia.70.48.250.135 08:51, 26 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think that we can claim fair use for the image; it really adds nothing to the article (see above). - Mike Rosoft 09:14, 26 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Delete per nom - even if it were a valid fair use claim (which I don't see how it could be), I've looked through the history of the GNAA article and I don't see that it was ever even being used there. So even if it qualified for fair use, it's an orphaned fair use image. The page where that image is used on GNAA's website - http://www.gnaa.us/corp.phtml - says nothing about the story behind the image and as such, any story about the image is unverifiable. Thus, delete. BigDT 16:41, 2 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

High quality, needs substantial cropping because of flimsy surroundings. -Mardus 14:25, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
High quality, needs considerable cropping (it's the car that must captivate attention, not the street; other cars also in view, waste of screen space, which translates into general waste of space). -Mardus 14:25, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
High quality, needs considerable cropping; keep, if no replacement available yet. -Mardus 14:25, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
High quality, keep only if no replacement available. -Mardus 14:25, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
High quality, needs substantial cropping — another vehicle in view, alongside many other unnecessary objects that take up space and divert attention from the car. -Mardus 14:25, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • User:Take_Me_Higher has uploaded over 250 images to Wikipedia that are unencyclopedic, of poor quality, and are all orphaned. A look through his logs will reveal the poor quality of his images. I ask that most of the images he uploaded be deleted, as they are a complete waste of space. DonIncognito 18:34, 26 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
High quality means to me here that these images are not blurry.
Comments:
Bad points: Neither image appears to contain any camera metadata (make, model, etc.), the uploader does not appear to be very comprehensive in explaining how he got these images, the vehicles are missing correct (or comprehensive) make and model information (this could be improved by other users, but it's not easy to tell the model year of a vehicle just from looking at the picture). The uploader has a reputation of being unreliable (wrt image sources and responses in his Talk page).
Neutral/positive points: I don't mind any photos that show the backs of vehicles, because I am often interested, how one or another vehicle looks when viewed in profile or how it looks like from the back. Sometimes a car's front design is considerably worse than in the back (such as the ugly "bug-eyed" Ford Scorpio). Neither do I mind vehicles that show age (rust, etc) on them, as long as the photo itself is sharp and does not have viable alternatives. My suggestion would be replacing the photos with a better image that bears a Wikipedia-compatible license.
Conclusion: If any of these better images don't have alternatives available, they should be kept, with tags that ask for better alternatives.
The uploader should see to it that if his images are deleted, he upload them into WikiMedia Commons and then properly categorise his images, provide sources and give adequate descriptions on make and model and model year. If his images are deleted either from the English Wikipedia or from commons, he can always create a Flickr.com account and publish his images there. Images that are deemed useful and with good licenses, could subsequently be used here in WP. -Mardus 14:25, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
