  • When: 11am, Sunday 22 July 2012.
  • Where: Computerbank, 483 Victoria Street, West Melbourne, just down from Dryburgh Street.
  • Why: It's time for another WMAU Melbourne Meetup following on from our May meetup. Food and beverages available.

Computerbank is a not-for-profit organisation, housed in a small building at 483 Victoria Street, West Melbourne, just down from Dryburgh Street. It's only a few minutes away from the usual venue for the meetups, held in Errol Street, so not too much further to travel. 'Computerbank recycles donated computers and distributes them to disadvantaged individuals and country groups.' http://www.computerbank.org.au

Topics or Questions

[edit]

Since January this year the organising committee of these WMAU meetups have been encouraging participation from WMAU members; the general wikimedian community, and people who have an interest through their introduction to Wikipedia, all of whom as attendees over different months have indicated they would like to know more and discuss how they might help. Interest of this kind has been the topic of conversation at every meeting we have held and we are now pleased to advise that out of the WMAU Melbourne Meetups we have gained new members to Wikimedia Australia, and very pleased to announce that one of these new members to WMAU has proposed and is developing Melbourne's first Wikimedia Australia training course to be held as U3A courses. Cuddy Wifter would like to discuss his ideas at the July meetup with as many people as possible and WMAU welcomes positive input to all comers.

Of course as is usual we are interested in hearing and participating in an ongoing conversation about Australian content on Wikipedia including topics and questions about Wikimedia Australia's projects.
