Page mover

I have been editing for over 7 years and I plan on using this permission in order to help with discussions on WP:RM and deal with cross-redirects for articles that should have more disambiguated titles. KingSkyLord (talk | contribs) 12:46, 2 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason for requesting page mover rights: I want to have my page mover rights extended, as I contribute to RM/TR. Was given 3mo trial and it will end on August 20. ToadetteEdit! 08:30, 29 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again, Toadette. You were great during the 2024 CrowdStrike-related article title saga! I hope you become a Page Mover at the same time as me! Jruderman (talk) 06:48, 11 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Given User talk:ToadetteEdit#Move review for Donald Trump fist pump photographs just today, as well as a past history of similar closes of deletion discussions at DRV, I am not convinced this should be granted. * Pppery * it has begun... 06:09, 12 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
At the least, asking Toadette here what might or should have been done differently seems appropriate. Dekimasuよ! 06:38, 12 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm also concerned about User_talk:ToadetteEdit#RM_at_Talk:Ted_Wilson_(figure_skater), which is, at best, a communication failure (A good closer will transparently explain how the decision was reachedWP:NHC), and at worst a headcount to determine consensus (WP:NOTDEMOCRACY). I am aware that my edit count is low for this permission. I feel that I have enough experience with article title discussions, redirect discussions, and deletion discussions to know what is likely to be controversial. I have the temperament to not abuse power.

I plan to step up my involvement in improving Wikipedia in general, possibly via crowdfunding. I am prepared to take a shot at formally concluding move discussions, and just as importantly, prepared to recuse myself if necessary. I understand that closing requires many of the same skills I discovered in myself during the 2024 CrowdStrike article naming saga.

I would like to hit fewer technical snags when moving pages. But I do not want full admin powers. So, asking for page mover permission seems like the correct step at this time. Jruderman (talk) 06:46, 11 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

From my talk page, reposted without comment:

Anyway: I noticed Jruderman requested page mover ability. I'd strongly encourage whoever reviews his request to assess his recent history, particularly in the 2024 CrowdStrike incident page, and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/TESCREAL (2nd nomination), and also to see his talk page. He is very clearly unfamiliar with the processes of Wikipedia. After no consensus was achieved for the CrowdStrike move, he wanted to unilaterally move the page and multiple people had to explain why that isn't appropriate. I think he is wholly unfamiliar with how consensus is achieved, when pages should he moved, and, to be honest, how Wikipedia "works" in general. I hope his request is investigated thoroughly, particularly the pages I mentioned/linked and the talk page advice others have tried to give him. He needs assistance or ADOPTion, but I'm worried giving him page moving ability is far too early. Thanks. 91.223.100.49 (talk) 12:43, 12 August 2024 (UTC)

On a related note, following the closure of a previous move request by this editor there was a suggestion that a page be unilaterally moved over objections instead. I would close this as "not done" due to not meeting the minimum requirements and not having much experience with moves, but I have also reverted or altered a few of this editor's moves recently. To Jruderman, I would suggest not seeing this permission as a "power" whether open to abuse or not. It should not be difficult to receive this permission without the need for self-promotion if and when evidence of experience and effectiveness is clear. Dekimasuよ! 15:22, 12 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I'm an active AfC reviewer, and I spend a lot of time patrolling new pages. I often draftify articles that are not sourced or need additional sources (over 250 articles so far). Having this right would be super useful and help reduce the number of R2 tags for admins in the backlog. I also have experience in WP:RM, and I'd like to request page mover rights for non-controversial tasks. Thank you, Waqar💬 16:39, 12 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
