Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests
If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
If you are here because you want an admin to approve of your new article or your proposed page move, you are in the wrong place.

- To list a technical request: Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=reason for move}}
the - If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.
Technical requests[edit]
Uncontroversial technical requests[edit]
- Greene's Tutorial College → Greene's College Oxford (move · discuss) – new name of schoool, rebranding/renaming of the school per school's website 2A02:1210:2C5A:AE00:8DEA:3397:14EA:74A3 (talk) 10:40, 16 May 2024 (UTC)
- 2013 Georgia State Panthers softball season (currently a redirect to 2013 Georgia State Panthers softball team) → 2013 Georgia State Panthers softball team (move · discuss) – already existing redirect. Changing name for standard college sports nomenclature -1ctinus📝🗨 16:58, 16 May 2024 (UTC)
- Orange Music Electronic Company → Orange Amps (currently a redirect back to Orange Music Electronic Company) (move · discuss) – Per WP:COMMONNAME. Can't move because of existing redirect.
It's nearly impossible to find anything referring to this company as "Orange Music Electronic Company." The official website uses "Orange Amps" - for example, the history section was apparently written by the company founder, who signs off, "Founder, CEO of Orange Amps." I would go with what he says. Requests to revert undiscussed moves[edit]
Contested technical requests[edit]
- Friesland (disambiguation) → Friesland (move · discuss) – per WP:PRIMARYTOPIC and WP:NCLANG PK2 (talk) 13:30, 15 May 2024 (UTC)
- I don't agree with this, and have reverted the recent move from Friesland to Friesland (province). The province seems the primary topic for this Dutch/German term when rendered in English, given that the region is usually called Frisia. — Amakuru (talk) 13:45, 15 May 2024 (UTC)
- @PK2: This technical request has been contested. As such, it would require a requested-move discussion, which you can begin by clicking "discuss" on your request. You can remove this request after opening a discussion (or if you do not want to continue). I have also adjusted the discuss link to include requesting the now-reverted move Friesland → Friesland (province). SilverLocust 💬 21:59, 15 May 2024 (UTC)

- DYD (disambiguation) → DYD (currently a redirect instead to Djugun dialect) (move · discuss) – No primary topic, like any other DAB page from Ykhwong. 2600:1006:B05C:30F3:F9D9:60A9:43F3:564A (talk) 14:03, 16 May 2024 (UTC)
- Did you open the RM at Talk:DYD (disambiguation) by mistake? Technically we need you to reply there saying you are going to "withdraw" your nomination before we can do anything, otherwise the RM needs to elapse. You can still do that as long as nobody replies with a support !vote. ASUKITE 14:53, 16 May 2024 (UTC)
- Japan Air Lines Flight 123 → Japan Airlines Flight 123 (currently a redirect back to Japan Air Lines Flight 123) (move · discuss) – correct company name Martinevans123 (talk) 17:36, 16 May 2024 (UTC)

PAGE) 18:06, 16 May 2024 (UTC)- You realise that the company is called Japan Airlines? Martinevans123 (talk) 18:20, 16 May 2024 (UTC)
- @Martinevans123 It was "Japan Air Lines" when the incident took place in 1985. The name was changed later. --Ahecht (TALK
PAGE) 18:25, 16 May 2024 (UTC)- Oh, I see. That article is not very clear on that point. It says simply: "The original Japan Airlines Co. was established on 1 August 1951." The only place where "Japan Air Lines" appears (unsourced) is in the infobox? Martinevans123 (talk) 18:29, 16 May 2024 (UTC)
- I agree that it's unclear exactly when the change took place, but the new livery they started using in 1989 was the first to use "Airlines": https://www.norebbo.com/japan-airlines-livery/. Certainly, if you look at the original accident investigation report for JAL 123, it uses "Air Lines". --Ahecht (TALK
PAGE) 18:33, 16 May 2024 (UTC)- Thanks for clarifying. I'd expect a date as a minimum in Japan Airlines. Obviously needs some attention. Martinevans123 (talk) 18:38, 16 May 2024 (UTC)

Administrator needed[edit]
- 2006 ANZAC Test (currently a redirect to 2006 Anzac Test) → 2006 Anzac Test (move · discuss) – Only page in the series with Anzac in all caps. Mn1548 (talk) 17:11, 16 May 2024 (UTC)
- The page at the current title was the result of a WP:CUTPASTE move from the lowercase title to the uppercase one. An administrator is needed to do a WP:HISTMERGE. --Ahecht (TALK
