Wikipedia:Good articles/GAN Backlog Drives/February-March 2009

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This Good article nominations backlog elimination drive is a one-month-long effort (originally organized by the GAN wikiproject and other users) to reduce the backlog of Good Article nominations. Please make sure that you read the whole Good article review process before starting to review an article. The co-ordinator for this drive is: Drilnoth. If you have any questions, leave a message in the drive's talk page. This drive runs from February 13, 2009 00:00 UTC and ends on March 13, 2009 23:59 UTC. Articles which were placed on hold before March 13 and have not yet had their reviews finished can still be counted once the review is complete, as long is it is before the end of the month (when prizes are given out).

Awards

[edit]

To receive an award, please include your name and the number of reviews you have completed as part of this drive. Please keep a running total next to your name. Awards will be given by the co-ordinator after this drive ends.

This is the scheme for the awards:

  • 5 for The Working Man's Barnstar
  • 10 for The Tireless Contributor Barnstar
  • 20 for GA medal of merit[1]
  • 40 to become a part of The Order of the Superior Scribes of Wikipedia (in other words, a {{superior}} barnstar)[2]

Note that only the highest award will be given out to each participant based on their reviews; a user who reviews 13 Good Articles nominees will just receive The Tireless Contributor Barnstar, not both it and The Working Man's Barnstar.

  1. ^ This was originally announced as requiring 25 reviews; the number has been reduced per talk page discussion.
  2. ^ This was originally announced as requiring 50 reviews; the number has been reduced per talk page discussion.

Review

[edit]

To ensure that all GA reviews were appropriately ended, I (Drilnoth) will be going through all reviews listed here which are not currently on hold to quickly scan them and make sure that there's no obvious problems, and if there are I'll list them for reassessment. I want to do this to ensure the continued quality of Wikipedia's GAs, and since this is a little bit of a contest I think it is important to double check everything. If anyone could take a brief look at the ones I reviewed, that would be great. Thanks. –Drilnoth (TC) 21:37, 6 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thus far, every review has been well-done. So as to not use up anyone else's time unnecessarily, I'm just going to go ahead and give out the awards. Wikipedians are a trustworthy lot; I don't think we need to worry too much about this. :) –Drilnoth (TC) 21:11, 31 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
