Wikipedia:Wikipedia Takes Boston 2011

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Wikipedia Takes Boston is a scavenger hunt for photographs of Boston. The aim is to gather freely-licensed photographs of Boston's many neighborhoods and better illustrate articles related to the city.

The event is scheduled to start on April 17 at 12:00 PM in front of Boston Public Library in Copley Square, and end at 5:30 PM also in front of Boston Public Library . For a list of goals for places to photograph, see Wikipedia:Wikipedia Takes Boston/Goals. (Feel free to add more places there!) Points will be assigned to neighborhoods based on how difficult it is to get to them and navigate around once there.

The day of the event, teams of up to three people will each choose a neighborhood of Boston to gather photographs for. Then around 12:30 we'll disperse throughout Boston -- on foot, bike, bus, subway, and car. When we convene at 5:30 we will upload our images to Wikimedia Commons and tally up how many points each team has to determine a winner. Each person on the winning team will receive a (real, small cast-iron) barnstar in appreciation of their awesomeness.

The event is open to everyone.
