Image use[edit]

Wehwalt, thanks for informing me of this TFA! One item I wanted to bring up though is the image that is currently being used. Although I have no issues with the image, you will note that this image isn't used in Packers sweep. This is because this image was removed during the FAC with concerns about its original source and thus copyright status. I am not familiar with the TFA process or image copyrights, so I will leave this to you or others at TFA. Just wanted to bring it up now so it can be addressed before it goes up on the main page. Cheers, « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 14:45, 19 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Dank, you may be interested in the note above as well. « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 14:47, 19 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Gonzo_fan. Pinging David Levy. - Dank (push to talk) 14:50, 19 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
As an aside, if this image isn't used, File:Packers sweep diagram.svg would make the most sense, in my opinion. File:1961 Topps 40 Paul Hornung.jpg could also be used with a caption explaining that Hornung was the primary ball carrier when the sweep was run. « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 16:31, 19 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Wehwalt, Dank and David Levy, any update on the use of this photo in the blurb? « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 16:28, 11 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I generally don't involve myself in the image matters but if you don't get another reply I'll look at what needs to be done.--Wehwalt (talk) 18:41, 11 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I would generally ping David, but you've already done that. - Dank (push to talk) 18:47, 11 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The Packers sweep diagram looks rather indistinct at 100px.--Wehwalt (talk) 18:54, 11 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
To be fair, everything looks pretty indistinct at 100px... ;) « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 21:54, 11 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Anyway, if David doesn't act, I'll change the image for it sometime midday tomorrow EDT, well before it becomes "Tomorrow's Featured Article".--Wehwalt (talk) 22:03, 11 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Apologies for the delay. I've switched to File:1961 Topps 40 Paul Hornung.jpg. —David Levy 18:10, 12 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I think the sweep diagram is probably better, David Levy.--Wehwalt (talk) 18:12, 12 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with your previous comment that it looks indistinct at this scale. On my screen, it's downright indiscernible. That's why we generally avoid using diagrams, charts and complicated maps for this purpose. —David Levy 18:16, 12 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I just think it's better than the football card. And the article writer made a specific request.--Wehwalt (talk) 18:42, 12 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Wehwalt: The football card image (accompanied by an explanation that the player depicted was the primary ball handler) was one of the two that Gonzo fan2007 suggested. I'm not knowledgeable on the subject, so I wouldn't endeavor to ascribe such significance on my own.
In any event, I've created a custom version of the diagram graphic (sized at precisely the correct height after removing the blank border). This has increased the thumbnail's clarity substantially. —David Levy 18:57, 12 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
OK, thank you very much.--Wehwalt (talk) 19:13, 12 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks everyone. David Levy, I am fine with whatever photo you think is best. Just wanted to make sure we don't run into any issues with the Lombardi photo. Cheers, « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 21:08, 12 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
