Protection for Ghassan Abu Sittah[edit]
Hi! I noticed you have had issues with user Iskandar323 maliciously editing and then violating bans example you used on his talk page. I have been having some issues with him wholesale deleting sections I added without engaging on the topic on Ghassan Abu-Sittah. I am reverting the changes and have added new sources from the Times but would appreciate if you could step in and clarify so we do not devolve into an edit war. Tennisist123 (talk) 21:37, 30 March 2024 (UTC)
- Sorry, I was away in the backcountry without internet access. Has this been resolved? Schwede66 07:35, 1 April 2024 (UTC)
- He hasn't edited since. I will notify you if that changes. Hope you had a nice Easter trip! Tennisist123 (talk) 19:19, 1 April 2024 (UTC)

- Hey, @Schwede66 there were some huge revisions to the page made recently by Makeandtoss which were not discussed in the Talk page prior, do you mind stepping in and starting a dialogue about the changes? Some very strong sources were removed and the Controversies section was buried within the greater career which I do not believe is reasonable as his controversies have to do with political statements made by Abu Sittah and not his work as a plastic surgeon. I am too young an account to revert and want a more senior opinion before launching a discussion. Tennisist123 (talk) 10:26, 13 April 2024 (UTC)
- Sorry, Tennisist123. I'd rather not get involved in an area where I lack knowledge. You can always place
{{Template:Admin help}}
on an article's talk page and that'll summon some admin who's able and willing to help. Schwede66 02:40, 14 April 2024 (UTC)- Thanks for the tip and for looking into it!

Could you please inspect and consider page protection again or other appropriate action (I think its the local school) as User:222.152.205.55 has resumed activities despite civil advice. I am not going to revert again. ChaseKiwi (talk) 22:28, 3 April 2024 (UTC)
- Done, but could you please continue to invite them to talk page discussions, ChaseKiwi? Schwede66 23:52, 3 April 2024 (UTC)
Typo[edit]
Hi Schwede66, I accidently misspelled "Sumida Park". It would be helpful if you could rename the file. Thanks. (I'll be very careful next time when adding files to Commons not to misclick)

Recent changes[edit]
Adding the Cleanup red links template like this, this, and this is truly not constructive, especially since you have not applied it to the equivalent existing pages for other years, which have existed for years now. It's a clear case of micromanaging recent changes and it just adds an eyesore template to otherwise pleasant articles. Easier to critique than to create, I suppose. Rowing007 (talk) 00:11, 23 April 2024 (UTC)
- If there are existing World Rowing Junior Championships that suffer from the same problem, Rowing007, then we should apply the same tag there. And with regards to your criticism (
Easier to critique than to create, I suppose
), you might want to check out this page to see how embarrassing your comment is. Schwede66 00:17, 23 April 2024 (UTC)- I am well-aware of your past contributions, and knew about them before making the comment. I am not "embarrassed" at all, because your past contributions do not take away from the fact that your addition of the template in these instances was, to put it bluntly, the lazy way out; it created more work instead of directly solving the perceived issue. If you tout your past contributions so proudly, I find it all the more ironic that you didn't put your money where your mouth is, in this case. Refer to my original comment to avoid going around in circles with this. Thanks. TL;DR you were not thorough here, regardless of your past contributions. Rowing007 (talk) 00:24, 23 April 2024 (UTC)
- I have now applied the tag to all years; they all suffer from the same problem. I hope you did not get the impression that I was picking on you, Rowing007. When a new page of this nature gets set up, there is always going to be a link included to a page that I once wrote, and hence I get a notification. That's why I looked at your three pages; I'm not stalking you or anything like that. Schwede66 01:56, 7 May 2024 (UTC)
Armagh Street Park Bridge[edit]
Hi! Hope things are well with you! Forgot all about this article... even how it is that I came to add some bits. Curious how is it that it got to mainspace now? As for DYK, sure, if you feel up to it. My interests have shifted and I just don't participate in that area anymore. And thanks for the ping; nice to reconnect. --Rosiestep (talk) 11:50, 29 April 2024 (UTC)
ITN recognition for Vincent O'Sullivan (New Zealand writer)[edit]
On 30 April 2024, In the news was updated with an item that involved the article Vincent O'Sullivan (New Zealand writer), which you nominated. If you know of another recently created or updated article suitable for inclusion in ITN, please suggest it on the candidates page. —Bagumba (talk) 04:47, 30 April 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks, Bagumba. New entries are supposed to be added at the top of the list. It seems you slotted the three new ones into the middle of the list. Schwede66 05:03, 30 April 2024 (UTC)
Kia ora Schwede66, just wanted to say thank you for nominating him for ITN. Really good to see him recognised on the front page. :) Chocmilk03 (talk) 22:49, 30 April 2024 (UTC)
- I’m sure I’ve beaten you to it; expect you would have nominated him yourself, Chocmilk03. Schwede66 03:13, 1 May 2024 (UTC)
- My capacity for wiki-work at the moment is a bit limited, so I suspect I would have meant to but not gotten around to it. Your nomination gave me the motivation to work on improving the article :) Chocmilk03 (talk) 03:21, 1 May 2024 (UTC)
Administrators' newsletter – May 2024[edit]
News and updates for administrators from the past month (April 2024).
- Phase I of the 2024 requests for adminship review has concluded. Several proposals have passed outright and will proceed to implementation, including creating a discussion-only period (3b) and administrator elections (13) on a trial basis. Other successful proposals, such as creating a reminder of civility norms (2), will undergo further refinement in Phase II. Proposals passed on a trial basis will be discussed in Phase II, after their trials conclude. Further details on specific proposals can be found in the full report.
- Partial action blocks are now in effect on the English Wikipedia. This means that administrators have the ability to restrict users from certain actions, including uploading files, moving pages and files, creating new pages, and sending thanks. T280531
- The arbitration case Conflict of interest management has been closed.
- This may be a good time to reach out to potential nominees to ask if they would consider an RfA.
- A New Pages Patrol backlog drive is happening in May 2024 to reduce the number of unreviewed articles in the new pages feed. Currently, there is a backlog of over 15,000 articles awaiting review. Sign up here to participate!
- Voting for the Universal Code of Conduct Coordinating Committee (U4C) election is open until 9 May 2024. Read the voting page on Meta-Wiki and cast your vote here!

I have sent you a note about a page you started[edit]
Hi Schwede66. Thank you for your work on 1867 New Zealand census. Another editor, Dclemens1971, has reviewed it as part of new pages patrol and left the following comment:
Thank you for creating this article!
To reply, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Dclemens1971}}

Dclemens1971 (talk) 03:17, 9 May 2024 (UTC)
- Haha, that's a cute message, Dclemens1971. All I did some 8 years ago was to set up a redirect. You might want to thank Wainuiomartian for actually writing the page. Schwede66 03:50, 9 May 2024 (UTC)
- Auto-response generated through New Pages Patrol but yes, thanks to @Wainuiomartian! Dclemens1971 (talk) 13:31, 9 May 2024 (UTC)
NZ Census articles[edit]
Hi, I hope this is the right place to contact you. I am working my way through New Zealand census pages, adding content and infoboxes. The infoboxes are not consistent - some say Country: New Zealand and some say Colony of New Zealand. Since the heading of the infobox says "Fifth census of the Colony of New Zealand" (or whichever it is), is it okay to just use 'New Zealand' for the country? Anything else I should attend to? Thanks. Wainuiomartian (talk) 20:58, 10 May 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for tidying up that series and writing missing editions, Wainuiomartian. I’ve had to think about that and look around now. I’ve concluded that "New Zealand" should be used in the infoboxes. In the end, I’ve cast my eye over 'what links here' for the Colony of New Zealand article and if it was generally referred to from equivalent articles (e. g. YYYY in New Zealand), I would have seen it there, but that wasn’t the case. With regards to content, if you get guidance from the more developed articles, you should be good.
- Unrelated to the above, let me take the opportunity to thank you for your very good work on a certain biography. It’s much appreciated. Schwede66 21:34, 10 May 2024 (UTC)
- You're welcome! Wainuiomartian (talk) 02:47, 11 May 2024 (UTC)
Auto patrolled request[edit]
Hey, hope you're doing fine. I've done everything you have suggested me do here, and followed the edit summary instructions you've given such as default sorting my previous articles, fixing PP and P in citations, using SFN template and using Book or Journal templates in Bibliography, etc. I've also created half a dozen new articles as per your suggestion, and I believe they are unproblematic. Regards. X (talk) 04:55, 13 May 2024 (UTC)
- Ok, thanks. Please copy the request to WP:PERM/A, Xoak. Schwede66 05:14, 13 May 2024 (UTC)
- Done. That Mussel Inn video was wholesome. Checked your activities and read some news articles on you. You've been really great and creative. Thanks for all your work and time on this project. X (talk) 05:20, 13 May 2024 (UTC)
Main page photo[edit]
Good evening! Could you add the current main page in the news photo to the category commons:Category:May 2024 solar storms in Australia? --Prosperosity (talk) 07:34, 13 May 2024 (UTC)
- Oh, and commons:Category:May 2024 in Melbourne. --Prosperosity (talk) 07:40, 13 May 2024 (UTC)
- No, sorry. I can't. I'm not an admin on Commons, Prosperosity. Like you, I'll have to wait until the protection comes off, and then everyone can do that. Schwede66 08:54, 13 May 2024 (UTC)
- No worries! The image finally lost protection so I've been able to do it just now. Prosperosity (talk) 20:50, 16 May 2024 (UTC)

Autopatrol request[edit]
Hi Schwede! I would like to inquire about the status of my autopatrol rights application, which has been pending for two weeks. I have noticed that you have already reviewed four applications that were submitted after mine. Please inform me if there is any issue with my application that is contributing to the delay. Thanks! - Prince of Erebor(The Book of Mazarbul) 05:34, 14 May 2024 (UTC)
- It’ll happen. There’s sometimes quite a bit of jumping around regarding the order of assessments. Schwede66 08:34, 14 May 2024 (UTC)

- Hi Schwede66. The above-mentioned Wikipedia Teahouse question is related to Filip Geljo, which you had indefinitely protected as a redirect earlier this year due to persistent vandalism. I don't think the creation of the article is vandalism, but I'm not whether the page's protection needs to be change now that the page is no longer a redirect. -- Marchjuly (talk) 10:25, 14 May 2024 (UTC)
ITN image[edit]
Hi there Schwede66. The Slovakia PM had already been up over 24h. Is there a specific reason that you swapped it back and removed the Singapore PM so soon? —Bagumba (talk) 21:55, 16 May 2024 (UTC)
- Sorry, Bagumba, I wanted to do what you had done a few minutes before me. Brain fade! I've self-reverted. Schwede66 22:42, 16 May 2024 (UTC)
Declined request[edit]
Hello. I noticed you declined my request for autopatrolled. In your edit summaries on my talk pages you say "still a stub (not enough prose)", but the way I write my articles are perfectly fine. In that diff you shown that "I removed the bare URLS" tag is when I added info to an reference, I did not remove anything because it was still there also same as the orphan tag, but I linked my articles. I forgot to remove the orphan tag off the article and forgot to fill in one more bare URL. Next, I removed the bare URLS tag. The diffs you give don't have anything to do with what you are saying. "As an aside, removing unpleasant messages from your talk archive is not something you should do.", but sometimes I do want to have an talk page archive, sometimes I don't. The way I use my dashes is in what my computer uses, not endashes per MOS:DASH. The categories are alright, what are wrong with them? You did not say anything about that. You went ahead and fixed the dashes in my articles. Stubs are okay and they have no problem, even if they are "short" like I said about your edit summaries. Thank you. TheGreatestLuvofAll (talk) 13:14, 17 May 2024 (UTC)
- TheGreatestLuvofAll, it shouldn't worry you one bit whether you are autopatrolled, as it gives you zero benefits. Being autopatrolled is of benefit to new page patrollers. The only reason that some editors are obsessed with this user right is because of hat collecting, which isn't looked upon favourably. If you disagree with my decision, please feel free to post another request at Wikipedia:Requests for permissions/Autopatrolled; I will leave this for another admin to assess. Schwede66 20:28, 17 May 2024 (UTC)
- @Schwede66 No it is alright. I was just posting this because I couldn’t comment on the RFP because it was archived by a bot and I was on break that time. I do want rights but I know I have a lot of things in the way to obtain rights. I will try again next time. Thanks again. TheGreatestLuvofAll (talk) 21:15, 17 May 2024 (UTC)
Errors on main page[edit]
Please, How do I post comments, corrections correctly? I get to the correct page & then what? It’s not obvious to me. Wis2fan (talk) 03:32, 19 May 2024 (UTC)
- Head to Wikipedia:Main Page/Errors and post the item under the appropriate heading. Does that help, Wis2fan? Schwede66 03:52, 19 May 2024 (UTC)

Meiner Meinung, misplaced priorities. We're here to serve the readers, not to perpetuate EWiki internal procedures. The existing sogenannte blurb is a cognitive nightmare. – Sca (talk) 16:11, 23 May 2024 (UTC)

- It’s misguided because it’s the wrong place. Errors gets wiped at noon UTC. It’s of no use having a discussion that won’t even be archived. Those discussions belong on project talk pages, where they can go on for however long it is necessary to reach consensus. Meaningful change can only result from getting right to the core of issues. The fast-paced environment that ERRORS provides is simply the wrong venue. Schwede66 17:11, 23 May 2024 (UTC)
