İsa Altsoy or İsa Bagasi (born in 1961 in Boğazköy, Gercüş, Batman Province),[1][2] is one of the leaders of the Kurdish Hezbollah operating in Turkey.[1]

Biography[edit]

Altsoy was born in Gercüş in 1961. Altsoy later became the leader of the Kurdish Hezbollah following the 2000 Istanbul raids. He only became the Kurdish Hezbollah leader because the more experienced and qualified candidates had either been killed or arrested, leaving him as the last option.[3] After he became leader, he fled to Iran under a fake name and continued living in exile.[4] In 2007, he was arrested by Interpol after trying to enter Germany from Switzerland.[3] He later disarmed the Kurdish Hezbollah.[5]
