The fifth South American Junior Championships in Athletics were held in Santiago, Chile from September 24–27, 1964.

Detailed result lists can be found on the "World Junior Athletics History" website.[1] An unofficial count yields the number of about 80 athletes from about 7 countries: Argentina (20), Brazil (10), Chile (18), Ecuador (2), Peru (8), Uruguay (6), Venezuela (16).
