1988 West Lothian District Council election

Labour took the most seats, and gained an overall majority

Elections to the West Lothian District Council took place in May 1988, alongside elections to the councils of Scotland's various other districts. The number of seats and the total vote share won by each party is listed below.[1]

  Labour: 14 seats, 47.0%
  SNP: 7 seats, 38.5%
  Independent: 2 seats, 3.2%
  Other Parties: 1 seat, 2.4%
  Conservative: 0 seats, 8.6%
  SDP: 0 seats, 0.3%

Voter turnout was 49.0%.
