History[edit]

Airalo is a US-based startup founded in 2019 by digital entrepreneurs Abraham Burak and Bahadir Ozdemir.[7][8]

In 2019, Airalo secured $1.9 million in seed funding from Antler and Sequoia Capital India's seed fund Surge.[9]

In 2021, it secured $5 million in Series A financing,[10][9] followed by $60 million Series B financing round in 2023, led by e& Capital, the venture arm of e& (better known as the UAE-based carrier Etisalat), with participation from startup 'generator' Antler Elevate, Liberty Global, Rakuten Capital, Singtel Innov8, Surge (the early-stage fund run by Peak XV, formerly known as Sequoia Capital India and SEA), Orange, T Capital (the venture arm of Deutsche Telecom), KPN Ventures, Telefónica Ventures and I2BF Global Ventures.[7][11][12][1][2][13][14][5]
