Auburn, Alabama municipal elections are held every four years to elect the mayor of the city and members of the city council.[1] [2] A runoff election is held if no candidate receives a majority of the votes, in both mayoral and city council elections.
James K. Haygood Jr. defeated incumbent G.H. Wright.[3]
The 1972 municipal election was held on 8 August 1972.[4] Runoffs were held on 12 September 1972.[5]
