Ikpon Kelvin (born 27 June 1997), best known as Baanty, is a Nigerian creative director, Musician and record label executive.[1][2][3]He founded the entertainment company, BNM Entertainment in 2023,[4][5] for which he serves as chief executive officer (CEO), and the convener of Baanty Music Movement, a music community formed in 2022 to connect creatives within the entertainment circle in Delta State.[6][7]

Early life and career[edit]

Kelvin Ikpon was born on 27 June 1997, in Agbor, Delta State. But had his early education at Total child primary school and secondary at Novena College in 2014[3][8][9]

On 15 March 2022, Baanty was on the cover of TurnTable NXT, a monthly issue for ranking emerging creatives who are contributing to the Nigerian story.[6] On 2 December 2022, he launched his singing career with the release of "Delta Groove".[10] Speaking with Rita Okoye of Vanguard on the inspiration behind the song, he says “Growing up in Delta State, I’ve always been inspired by the resilience and vibrancy of my people. ‘Delta Groove’ is my way of celebrating our heritage and spreading positivity through music.”[10][11]

On 8 March 2023, Baanty announced the launch of his imprint BNM Entertainment,[12] an entertainment company, whose arm includes a record label, talent management, music education, music production, and event management. With the aim, to empower new generation artist, by helping them reach their full potential as they navigate through the industry.[12] On 26 July 2023, he executively produced the official theme song for ‘Conversations with Kenni’[13] by Kehinde Ajose, an entertainment journalist for The Punch.
