Baroon is a village in the Lower Dir District of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. It is about 11 kilometres (6.8 mi) from district headquarter Timergara . Baroon village laes Its population is approximately 11thousand. There is 4 Government and one private school for children's. Also have two islamic education madrasa's. Baroon village is situated south of Panjkora river Picnic spot Koto hydro power project dam is also located in Baroon. Baroon have one water canal and 4 hill streams. Baroon is one of the historical village in Dir history. The famous battle of 1898 between malak faam Jan Shinwari and umra khan jandooli for the Nawab-e-Dir throne was fought in Baroon Which end with the defeat and dethroning of umra khan jandooli from Nawab-e-Dir title. Some historical figures also belong to Baroon among them are 1.malak faam Jan Shinwari commonder in chief of Nawab-e-Dir aunrang Zeb khan (chara nawab) army. 2.Malak Sarfaraz Khan Shinwari Subeedaar of last Nawab-e-Dir Shah jahan khan and Conqueror of Qilla nakbi Khail swat and only person in Shah jahan khan era Which rewarded with bravery award (bahaduri tamgha) and also youngest subeedaar at age of 18 in Dir history. 3.
