Byredo is a Swedish company that produces fragrances, leather goods, and accessories.[1][2] Byredo is a portmanteau of "By Redolence".[3] It was founded in Stockholm in 2006 by Ben Gorham[4].[5] Its first collection of handbags and other accessories debuted at Paris Fashion Week in September 2017.[6]

History[edit]

In 2013, Gorham sold a majority stake of the company to London-based investment firm Manzanita Capital.[3][7] This company was invested in Diptyque and Malin + Goetz,[8] and also owns Space NK.[3] In May 2022, Puig acquired a majority stake in Byredo.[9] In November 2023, Byredo launched fine jewelry as a new permanent category for the brand.[10]

Collaborations[edit]

Perfumer Jérôme Epinette has created some scents for the brand — Byredo.[8] In 2016 Byredo collaborated with photographers Inez and Vinoodh on a fragrance named "1996."[11][12]

In 2018, Byredo collaborated with Off-White's Virgil Abloh on a fragrance named "Elevator Music."[13]

Byredo has also collaborated with IKEA on a home fragrance [14][15] – releasing the OSYNLIG candle collection in 2020.[16] In 2021, Byredo launched the fragrance Space Rage in partnership with the singer Travis Scott.[17]

In March 2022, Ben Ghoram (Byredo) and Isamaya Ffrench partner to launch their first make-up collection together.[18]
