Located in the world’s southernmost rainforest in the southwest region of Chile known as the Selva Valdiviana or Valdivian temperate forests. It includes miles of evergreen forests that are home to ancient trees, unique fauna and flora.

The Alerce Costero National Park includes 134 protected acres. Within the park is one of the world's oldest trees. The park receives 10,00 visitors a year and has increased its staff to better protect the ancient tree.
