This category is for the listing of professional (and important amateur) players of the hybrid carom/pocket cue sport English billiards. It is emphatically not for listing English/British players of other cue sports such as carom billiards, snooker or pool (blackball).
Please do not rename this category (or create a competing category) "Category:English billiard players"; while this would be more consistent with Category:Carom billiards players, Category:Pool players, etc., and the general Wikipedia convention on naming "Category:SPORT-NAME-HERE players" categories, in this case it would be catastrophically ambiguous, since the reader could not tell whether "English" referred to the game or the nationality of the player (and in the former case, "billiards" is too ambiguous itself.)
