The Stuttgart Military Community consists of US installations in and around the city of Stuttgart and has been designated as one of the few enduring communities where the Department of Defense will continue to operate in Germany. It is organized under Installation Management Command Europe Region. Many of its installations were closed or reduced in size after the Cold War ended and VII Corps was deactivated. Today, the Stuttgart Military Community largely hosts 2 Department of Defense Unified Commands and supporting units.
