Women's subcat / Value of exisiting subcats?[edit]

Even through I don't plan to go through the formal process of suggesting a subcategory, if anyone does want to go through that process, a subcategory for women's players would seem to make sense.

Additional categories such as "US college players", "US players in MLS", "US players in WPS", "US players in international men's professional leagues", "US national team players", etc. might also prove helpful.

On the other hand, splitting up the category by position played on the field seems of unclear value to me. Is this the approach followed for other countries? Apparently this is the format established for subcats of player bios from other countries. Do editors go in looking for articles to expand based on position on the field? (Or am I misunderstanding the reason for classifying stubs?) - Regards, PhilipR (talk) 19:16, 25 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
