Proposed merge[edit]

It has been proposed that Category:Canal tunnels should be merged with Category:Water tunnels. (05 Feb 2008)

  • Oppose -- Canal tunnels are designed for boat traffic, to avoid climbing hills; water tunnels are designed for the delivery of drinking water to centres of population. Yes they are both tunnels with water in, but they serve utterly different functions and the categories should not be merged. -- EdJogg (talk) 10:57, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. Per EdJogg and the simple fact that they are two significantly different things. I seem to recall this being proposed at least once in the past and it was rejected since their purposes are very different. Also category moves should be proposed on WP:CFD and discussed there. Rejected – As it has been over a month since the suggestion was made, and no-one else has voiced an opinion, it seems appropriate to abandon the proposed merge in accordance with the above 'consenus' (!). Merge banners now removed. EdJogg (talk) 14:37, 17 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
