Untitled[edit]

I started adding some articles about people to this category, but now I am unsure if they should be here or not. I was thinking that some people might not know what position someone like Caesar Rodney held, but would know that he was a Delaware politician. Do you think that there should be only subcategories here, or also articles on individuals? I won't act further until I get a response.

I agree with your concern, but the rules as I understand them is that an article should not be categorized in a parent category as well as a subcategory. This to me is awkward, because sometimes I would like to see all the "Delaware politicians," regardless of office, or all the places in Pennsylvania, and not have to look through each county. One solution is to make a list, but the best would be for someone to program a category article rollup. I have followed the rule because many editors are enforcing it pretty strongly and I prefer the consistency to fighting it. I would recommend others follow it as well, and try and get the programming change made. stilltim 21:40, 19 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've gone ahead and removed the tag from those I had assigned it to. What should been done about the politicians that don't fall into any other subcategory? Should they be left, or should a new category be created for them? Djlayton4 16:54, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • I have used the generic "Delaware politicians" unless there is subcategory. If we ever get enough, say Delaware judges, we could create a subcategory. stilltim 18:18, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
