Category scope[edit]

Hi everyone. I created this topic. Upon further reflection, i wanted to add a comment here. This category was meant as a gathering place for any lower-level event categories which might be anywhere else in Wikipedia, but which could also be usefully gathered into one place; as well as some more top-level event categories which are delineated by topic. However, i noticed that the top-level category "Events" itself is also used to contain some categories which are for events by topic.

Some of those even appear both in this category and in the top-level one. So I'm not sure exactly the best way to proceed. I do feel this category is needed, whether people feel it should be used for top-level event categories or not, as, again, i feel this can serve a useful purpose simply by using it for gathering lower-level categories which pertain to this. thanks for your help. I am open to suggestions, of course. thanks. --Steve, Sm8900 (talk) 13:46, 31 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

They should probably be cleaned out eventually. I would think that "events" might have several potential areas to categorize by:
  • events by topic - subject classification
  • events by time - year, month, recurring, time of establishment
  • events by nature - organized events, other human events (e.g., riot), natural events
