Move?[edit]

I think we should change the title of this category from 'Indonesian landlords' to 'Landheeren', which is more specific and accurate.

I don't agree with your proposal, but the way to make this happen is to bring it up at Categories for discussion.
My disagreement is two-fold; a) I think we should prefer terms in English and b) using Landheeren would seem to constrain the category to a certain historical period. Your edits to the category description are already attempting to constrain the category in a way that does not seem to have been present when the category originated. In principle, a modern-day real estate magnate in Indonesia ought to be able to fit into this category. But that's the sort of thing a discussion at CfD would figure out. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 03:29, 16 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

— jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) from a casual glance of the articles in this category, most of the landlords seem to fall in the 'Landheeren' category. So, I assumed the category was referring to the more restricted historical period I outlined in the category description. Maybe, we should have 'Landheeren' as a separate sub-category that could come under 'Indonesian landlords', which could in turn stay as a broader category that might include modern-day real estate magnates or Indonesia's massive agricultural conglomerates. I won't make any changes until I hear back from you. Thank you.

+Marie+Leung+, I saw that, too. But categories are not necessarily defined by their current membership. That's why I suggested a discussion at CfD.

A subcategory 'Landheeren' is not entirely out of place, either, with your category description (or some version of it) transferred there. I'd interpret that as a sort of 'split', so should still get consensus at CfD.

You'll find that the participants at CfD are drawn from a somewhat different population of editors than the ones who respond to {{help me}} requests. They'll likely have better arguments drawn from policy than I have at my command. Same goes for your other move request. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 05:18, 16 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
