Sufi as Islamic sect[edit]

"Sufi" cannot be described as a sect for all sufis must belong to one of the other sects (Sufism is overwhelmingly a Sunni phenomenon, but there are some Shi'a sufis as well).

Islamic sects[edit]

I hope this is a mistake that this category has been renamed due to just one nomination and without any due discussion despite the fact that the Islamic schools and branches article which has been used by the nominator as a reference use the term sect, one way or another, at least 25 times. One can find more academic and verifiable sources documenting the Islamic sects rather than branches. I hope someone will look into this and revert the category back to Islamic sects. Thank you.
