It ought to be Progressive Conservative Party of Canada leadership conventions. GoodDay (talk) 18:03, 16 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I strongly disagree. See Talk:Conservative Party of Canada leadership convention, 2004 ‎. Ground Zero | t 18:20, 16 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You're denying that there were PC leadership conventions? GoodDay (talk) 19:09, 16 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
No. If I were denying that there were PC leadership conventions, I would have written something like "There were no PC leadership conventions". But I didn't, so I have no idea why you bring up this red herring. Ground Zero | t 20:45, 16 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Very well, the 1998 PC race was a leadership election as there was no convention held. But the other PC races were leadership conventions. GoodDay (talk) 19:33, 16 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The question is whether they were all conventions or not. "Elections" nicely covers both conventions, where a leader is elected by delegates, and elections where the leader is chosen by the general membership. Since there was no convention in 98, "election" seems to be a better choice. The 1993 article does not indicate who voted - was it delegates, or "points" determined based on the votes of members of constituency associations? I can't remember that far back. Ground Zero | t 20:45, 16 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I believe (according to memory) 1993 was via delegates. As for 1998? yep, election is more accurate. I'm not certain how to classify the 1995 selection (Charest), as it was a confirmation vote. GoodDay (talk) 20:53, 16 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
