Cfm[edit]

See the Cfd page for my proposal to merge the more specific "article header templates" category into this new category. -- Omniplex 03:29, 17 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Protected?[edit]

Should Category:Protected be removed, or is this category supposed to be protected, but isn't? --–Xoid 09:09, 2 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You mean this is a sub-category of Category:Protected, and should therefore either be a protected category, or contain protection templates which have been protected. I was thinking the latter just the other day. This is the only sub-category of Category:Protected whose contents aren't (necessarily) protected. However, there does not appear to be a better parent category for it at this time. -- zzuuzz (talk) 15:54, 2 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Confusing, isn't it? I personally think that the category should just be removed; this category is about templates to be used on protected pages, not about protected protection templates. That is, however, only my best guess. –Xoid 07:03, 4 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yes I agree. This category is already a sub-category of Category:Wikipedia maintenance templates, and though it should be heavily linked from the protected pages categories, it doesn't really belong there. I suppose there should probably be a Category:Wikipedia protection for things like this. -- zzuuzz (talk) 13:30, 4 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Extra templates.[edit]

It may be safe to create a template for << full protection >> against every single violation charted on the table.

  • Sock puppets --- There are short-term "sock puppets", and long term ones that can be considered light "time bombs" (although it doesn't make sense to actually say "time bomb" on a Wikipedia template). It is possible for somebody to remain a user on Wikipedia for a week or more just to become one.
  • Spambots --- Somebody could be creating multiple user accounts in one house and not just on one computer (Not the same IP address). They could connect to their own network and "eat away" at Wikipedia.

There should also be a << full protection >> and an << indefinite protection >> template for articles that are being considered for deletion. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 154.5.181.164 (talk) 01:43, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Following instructions, I added {{pp-create}} as the protection reason at Barnyard Bash, but the template doesn't render on the page. Am I doing something wrong? --ZimZalaBim talk 23:56, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
