I vote that either this category be integrated with Cathedrals in Italy They would, if complete, almost completely overlap Rococo1700 (talk) 16:33, 30 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

the category is necessary to sort by denominations, categories of cathedrals by country, can not be assumed that all the cathedrals belong to a single religion, because in Italy there is freedom of worship and many religions and different Christian groups--Warairarepano&Guaicaipuro (talk) 15:23, 5 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The question is: How many non-Roman Catholic Cathedrals are there in Italy? Simple question.
I can see trying to add a category about non-Roman Catholic churches or temples. Cathedrals require a bishop-based hierarchical system. I imagine you could find maybe 2-3 non-Catholic "cathedrals" in Italy. Let us know if you do and how many? A category should have 5 or more if not a subcategory.

If not I recommend this category be rescinded. How do we stop the HotCat till then? Rococo1700 (talk) 19:58, 5 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I could not find in English Wikipedia any non-Roman Catholic Cathedrals in Italy. I urge you to stop changing this category. This is adding complexity where there is none.Rococo1700 (talk) 20:13, 5 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

then I invite you to check better. But even in that case, the category is useful for organizing the Catholic cathedrals around the world by country, different from the case of the categories of general cathedrals by country.--Warairarepano&Guaicaipuro (talk) 22:21, 5 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I invite you to check better. Of course there are non-Catholic churches in Italy. Some may call themselves Cathedrals. But it is ridiculous to take a category with 800 entries and create a subcategory with 798 entries.

I do not think your category for other countries applies. Again: answer the questions: How many non-Catholic cathedrals in Italy? Name them one by one. Lets make a count. Till then, my recommendation will be reversion, or bring up this category for discussion elsewhere.Rococo1700 (talk) 03:47, 6 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

According to Wikipedia in Italian https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cattedrali_in_Italia#Chiesa_ortodossa and English https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_cathedrals_in_Italy most of the cathedrals in Italy are Roman Catholic, but there are also two Greek Orthodox (Greek Orthodox Church; San Giorgio dei Greci [Venezia] and tempio della Santissima Madre di Dio e San Nicola di Mira [Rimini]). and 2 cathedrals Italian Albanian Italo-Albanian Catholic Church (St. Nicholas Cathedral in Lungro and Cathedral of St Demetrius the Martyr in Piana degli Albanesi), if we follow your theory these are all Roman Catholic cathedrals and is not. So as I said, until it is deleted by voting this category, it is valid to use it ... not only because there are many similar categories in many other countries, but to separate them by religious denomination, So if I can answer your question perfectly and easily.--Warairarepano&Guaicaipuro (talk) 20:33, 8 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

As I said elsewhere, create subcategories for the 5 that do not fit, rather than the hundreds that do. Occam's Razor.Rococo1700 (talk) 02:40, 10 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
