Eliminating bias[edit]

Before a few days ago, this category contained activists who advocate for the rights of sex workers no matter whether those activists see prostitution as exploitative of sex workers or empowering of sex workers. Recently, however, all of the sex worker activists taking the former position were removed from this category and the explanation of the scope of the category was altered to specify the latter position. No matter who is right about prostitution, Wikipedia does not take sides. Activists who take both positions purport to be advocating for changes that will benefit sex workers and argue that those on the other side are actually advocating changes that will be detrimental to sex workers. In order for this category to remain neutral, activists on both sides of this debate should be included in this category; the articles that were removed should be reinstated and the explanation of the category's scope should be reverted to its previous form. By way of background, I believe this category used to be called "Sex worker rights activists", which by definition is a pro-decriminalization movement, and was at some point changed to a broader category "Sex worker activists". I'm not sure if I agree with that merger, but I'll let it stand for the moment. Even with that definition in place, that still includes only people who fall into two categories - 1) Sex worker rights activists, who are pro-decrim, 2) "Survivor" or "exited" sex worker activists, who often support prostitution abolition. What this category most certainly does not include is just anybody who happens to support a pro-decriminalization or pro-abolitionist position. In particular, Kajsa Wahlberg was extremely inappropriately placed in this category. Wahlberg was never a sex worker, is with the Swedish National Police, and happens to be a leading Swedish government advocate of their countries legislation. The idea that a police person in charge of enforcing laws against sex work is in some way a "sex worker activist" is abusing the term in the extreme.
