HISTORY: During or around 1953 1954, two Military representatives came to talk to my father, Frank Scott Douglass in our home in Parkville, MO. It was evening when they arrived. We were told that they were trying to convince my father to sell his property on FF highway in Platte County. They had pictures of our farm (black and white) and showed my father how the land would work with the other farms that they had already purchased. We were told that there were 3 farmers that had not yet sold to them and my father's property was crucial to the entire layout that was planned. These men told my father that they had another site on hold near Omaha, but preferred this location. Another farmer was negotiating to sell his property when my father declined to sell. That man did not speak to my father again after that. His farm went into decline and he and his family moved. Our family is very interested in getting a copy of those ariel photos. Any other documentation of these events would be appreciated. It is a crucial piece of our family history. Any assistance that can be offered would be greatly appreciated. by Cora Douglass Thompson drcorathompson@gmail.com
