Want to create a new policy page "You don't own the article"[edit]
I would like to start a new page called "Wikipedia: You don't Own the Article" but I do not know if a similar policy page already exists. I have encountered situations where editors become so invested in an article that they seem to try control every aspect of it. They revert any addition that they do not support 100%. They revert changes as minor as "--" into "—". I have seen comments in the discussions, explaining a revert of somebody else's edit, along the lines of "I haven't had time to check the book" or even "I don't own that source". They often blindly revert an extensive multi section edit because they disagreed with one part of it.
Is there an existing article telling people to relax and that others are allowed to change their pet articles? If not, is there some documentation for creating "Wikipedia:*" articles? --Bertrc (talk) 19:44, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
- We have Wikipedia:Ownership of articles. Is that what you're looking for? Oh, by the by, not all WP pages are necessarily "policy" pages. That's just a very minor nitpick, but if you were to make a page like that or similar to that, it could lead to possible scuffles later if you were to call it a "policy" page, since it doesn't actually reflect an official policy (just an essay on existing ones). It's often good to label those sorts of pages. I did so on my WP:DELNOM essay page, so you can take a look there for a quick example. I'm not sure offhand if there are any guideline pages for creating those types, though. - Vianello (talk) 19:45, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
