Dawood Public School (DPS) is a trust owned institution that offers education to over 2500 girls in Karachi, Pakistan.

DPS is affiliated with Cambridge University and offers a highly developed and holistic educational program for girls aged 2 to 19 years. DPS provide preschool, primary education, secondary education and preparation for the International General Certificate of Education(IGCSE).

History[edit]

DPS was established in 1983 by Ahmed Dawood. He took the initiative to promote education[1] among women. Offering Science, Mathematics, and popular electives like Global Perspectives[2] and English Literature,[2] the school provides classes from Nursery to O Levels.

Faculty[edit]

The faculty of DPS consists of a Principal,[3] along with a Section Head for its Pre-Primary, Primary, and Secondary Sections. The teachers are highly qualified subject specialists, well-trained for their respective role.[4][5]

Sports[edit]

Sports are popular extra-curricular activity at DPS. Inter-School Throwball,[6] Cricket,[7] Volleyball,[8] and Basketball Competitions are well-attended.

Connecting with community[edit]

World Wide Fund for Nature Pakistan organized a Nature Carnival at PAF Museum, Karachi. The school has collaborated with WWF to raise awareness about environmentl protection and actively pursue the green revolution.

Incorporating values of public service, the DPS Festival of Lights[9] donated funds to Bait-ul-Sukoon Cancer Hospital and Hospice,[10] as well as Lady Dufferin Hospital.

promoing the marvels of Science, Sabrina Dawood[11][12] conceptualized a unique science exhibition, that led to the creation of the MagnifiScience Centre. Distinguished intellectuals DrAtta-ur-Rahman, Ameena Saiyid attended the event along with many others. The DPS campus opened its doors to the community of Karachi, Thatta, Badin District etc., for three days of engagement and hands-on learning.

The DPS Evening Session provides free education to underprivileged[13] students. The Dawood Development Unit supports individuals with special needs, aiming to integrate them into mainstream education.
