Diplomatic Council (DC) is a non-governmental organization based in Wiesbaden, Germany. It was established in 2012 as a global think tank with the purpose of promoting global economic diplomacy and peace. The global think tank holds a consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).

Overview[edit]

Diplomatic Council was founded in 2012 by Ambassador Buddhi Athauda, Andreas Dripke and Hang Nguyen.[1][2][3] Other key leaders include German Ambassador Dr. Heinrich Kreft and peace activist Jamal Qaiser.[4][5][6] It holds a special consultative status with the United Nations. This status is based on the UN Charter's Article 71, and allows the Diplomatic Council to engage in UN activities, make statements, and contribute to discussions on economic and social issues.[7][8][9][10][11]

The organization is based in Wiesbaden, Germany.[12][13][14]

The mission of the Diplomatic Council is to foster economic diplomacy as a means of promoting prosperity worldwide, viewing economy as a key contributor to global peace.[15][16]

Diplomatic Council participates in various UN commissions, including the Commission on Sustainable Development, the Commission on the Status of Women, and the Commission for Social Development. It uses approaches such as written and oral submissions, personal networking, side events, marketing, and public relations, to contribute to its and UN goals.[7][17]
