The Abobo Market Shooting was a morter attack made by the loyalists to Laurent Gbagbo on March 17th 2011 in the Ivory Coast.

Incident[edit]

On March 17, 2011 at 12:30PM, an attack took place in Sieka Kone market in Abobo, allegedly carried out by the forces loyal to President Laurent Gbagbo. According to the United Nations Mission in Cote d'Ivoire (UNOCI), the assailants fired six projectiles at the market and its vicinity, resulting in the deaths of approximately 30 individuals and leaving between 40 and 60 others wounded.[1][2][3][4][5]

The UN condemned these attacks, stating, "It is difficult not to arrive at the conclusion that this is a crime against humanity."[1]
