Alan Feltus (born 1 May 1943) is an American artist, known for his "silent" figurative paintings.[1] After receiving his MFA from Yale University in 1968, he was awarded the Prix de Rome at the American Academy in Rome, where he spent two years (1970–1972)[2] developing his own singular identity as an artist. Feltus taught painting at the American University between 1972 and 1984. In 1987 he and his wife, the artist Lani Irwin,[3] moved with their two sons to Italy, where they have lived and worked to this day.

Alan Feltus has been represented by Forum Gallery in New York City since 1976.[4] His work is part of the public collections of the SMITHSONIAN AMERICAN ART MUSEUM,[5] the HIRSHHORN MUSEUM & SCULPTURE GARDEN,[6] and the CORCORAN GALLERY OF ART,[7] in Washington, D.C., as well as the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco,[8] CA, the Fralin Museum of Art, VA, the Huntington Museum of Art, WV, among others.
