Career[edit]

Film[edit]

Suhail's directorial and screenwriting debut, Beneath a Mother's Feet (2023) was inspired by his mother's personal experience of escaping her life in Morocco as a young mother, which meant leaving her young children behind. The film blends the cinema verité style with Moroccan allegory and superstition. The film follows Wedad, a young single mother in Casablanca, over a 36 hour period leading up to her moment of departure.

Writing[edit]

Suhail's writing has spanned various formats, from creative non-fiction in The New Statesman to live performance writing, notably his piece 'No Regrets' which was performed live and featured on BBC Sounds as part of the 'Margins to Mainstream with Michael Sheen' podcast series.
