Early Life and Education[edit]

Ashton born on June 11, 2003, grew up in Adelaide, and completed high school at St Michael's College with an ATAR of 92.35.[1]

Higher Education[edit]

Ashton Charvetto studied a Bachelor of Law and Arts (Advanced) at the University of Adelaide.

Political Career[edit]

2022 South Australian State Election[edit]

  • Electoral District: Frome
  • Party: Labor
  • Results: In the 2022 South Australian state election, Ashton Charvetto, representing the Labor Party, ran in the Frome electorate.[2] His campaign, focused on promoting progressive policies and targeted issues like the cost of living and climate change, which resonated with many voters. Charvetto secured a 10% swing to the ALP which was significant portion of votes, demonstrating strong support and highlighting his emerging influence in South Australian politics. He inevitably fell short in the safe Liberal seat losing 58.9% to 41.1% TPP, but as the youngest candidate in the election at just 18 years and 9 months old, his performance not only marked him as a talent for the party but also set the stage for his future political endeavors.   • Platform: Charvetto ran for the position of YLL secretary on their broad left wing platform of advancing workers' rights, climate action, and a more progressive ALP[6]. In this role, Charvetto has played a significant part in shaping the youth wing of the Labor Party in South Australia. His position as secretary underscores his commitment to engaging with and advocating for younger members of the party, ensuring their voices and concerns are heard within the broader political discourse. Advocacy and Issues[edit]

Charvetto has been an advocate for progressive change, particularly on student issues and national advocacy. Proudly a member of the Left faction in South Australia, Charvetto believes in the need for a more progressive Australian Labor Party that looks to advance workers' rights and tackle the major issues of such as the housing crisis, climate change and wealth inequality. He has experience representing South Australia as a national delegate in youth political organisations, emphasising the need for young people to have a voice in the issues that affect them.[8]

Personal Life[edit]

Charvetto is a fan of the Collingwood Magpies in the AFL.
