The Atlético Madrid–Leicester City rivalry is an international club rivalry between Atlético Madrid and Leicester City F.C. that dates back to 1962, when Leicester City draws with Atletico Madrid in the 1961–62 European Cup Winners' Cup. Despite meeting only six occasions in the major European competitions, Leicester City ended up in a huge defeat against Atlético Madrid while drawing three games.[1] The two European clubs also drawn together in the 1997–98 UEFA Cup and 2016–17 UEFA Champions League, with Atletico Madrid clinching two wins of the four games.
