Augustus Mahalski (~1831 - 1900)[1] was an early photographer based in York.

Mahalski was born around 1831 in Bielitz, Galicia, Poland. Mahalski was one of 261 Polish refugees who arrived in Liverpool, United Kingdom, on 4th March 1851, who were a part of the Polish Legion serving under Joseph Wysocki[1]. Mahalski settled in York where he married Sarah May and had three children: Amelia (b.1859), William (b.1866) and Cecilia (b.1871).

Mahalski setup his business in 1861 at 34 Goodramgate, York[2] with the business later moving to 29 Stonegate in 1872, 60 Low Petergate in 1881 with and 44 Low Petergate in 1885, where it stayed until 1900. At the time of his death the business was recorded at 78 Petergate.[1]
