Bakhodir Tursunovich Yuldashev (born on 7th September, 1945; Kattakurgan, Samarqand Region) – uzbek as well as soviet cinema and theatre actor,theatre director. Honored Artist of the Uzbek uSSR (1979), Nation's Artist of Uzbekistan (1993). Government Prize Laureate named after Hamza, holder of the such orders like “Buyuk Khizmatlari Uchun”, “Mehnat Shukhrati”, “Fidokorona Khizmatlari Uchun” and “El-Yurt Khurmati”, honorary member of the International Academy of Sciences of Industry, Education and Art in the USA.

Biography[edit]

Born on September 7, 1945 in the city of Kattakurgan, Samarkand region, Uzbek USSR, in the family of People’s Artist of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shirin (Sorakhon) Melieva and actor Tursun Yuldashev.[1] After graduating from the directing department of the Tashkent Theater and Art Institute in 1970, he trained at the Bolshoi Drama Theater with Tovstonogov. Since 1970, worked as a director at the Uzbek Academic Theater named after Hamza, where he began working in 1966, when, as a student, he worked as a prop master for six months, then as a lighting designer, and in 1974, at the age of 28, he was appointed chief director of this theater, for which he was named the most the young leader among all the “academicians” of the former Union.[2]

In 1983 he created the Republican Theater of Satire named after. A. Kakhkhara, becoming its artistic director.Since 1984, he worked as the chief director of the Yesh Guardia (Young Guard) theater, renamed after the A. Khidoyatov, and then the Uzbek Drama Theater named after Abrora Khidoyatova. There he set “The Tricks of Maysara” (Hamza), “Farmonbibi was Offended” (“Farmonbibi Arazladi”), “Secrets of the Burqa”, “Black Belt”, “Iskander”, “Firidun”, “Nodirabegim”, “Silk Road”, which were a huge success at many international theater festivals.

Since 1992, he has been the chief producer of the international music festival “Sharq Taronalari” several times. In 1994, participated in the celebrations on the occasion of the 600th anniversary of the birth of Mirzo Ulugbek as a stage director. Moreover in 1995 he staged the celebration of Novruz, and in 1996 - the 660th anniversary of the birth of Tamerlane.In 2009, he founded the theater-studio “Diidor”, the place where many future masters of Uzbek art studied the basics of theatrical art, and where he worked as artistic director until his death.

His play “Revolt of the Brides” (“Kelinlar қўzғoloni”, Said Ahmad) was shown more than 1000 times.

Died on May 16, 2021 at the age of 76.[3]
