Baldwin Wake was born on the 3rd August 1774 in New Jersey, Son of Drury and Frances Wake, who were both English but resided in New Jersey when Baldwin was born.[1]

Baldwin Studied medicine at the University of Cambridge and attended St John’s College. He went on to be a surgeon of the 21st Light dragoons (a Cavalry regiment of the British army). [1]

On the 28th April 1804 he married Sarah Spedding in Saint Nicholas, Whitehaven, Cumberland.[1]

Baldwin Wake was the founder of the York medical society which he founded in 1832.

Baldwin died in 1842. In his will, dated 5th January 1842, he bequeathed £100 to Trustees of York lunatic asylum to be invested.[2]
