Bishop Jovan (Serbian: Jован, romanized: Jovan; born Radoslav Stanojević, June 28, 1979 in Vukovar, SFR Yugoslavia) is the current Serbian Orthodox auxillary bishop of Dusseldorf and all of Germany and the titular bishop of Zahumlje and all of Herzegovina.

Biography[edit]
Early life[edit]
Bishop Jovan Stanojević was born on June 28, 1979 in Vukovar, SFR Yugoslavia as the third child of father Dušan and mother Boja, (née Milovanović).[1]
After finishing an apprenticeship as an auto mechanic in 1997, he enrolled in the Clerical High School of St. Arsenije in Sremski Karlovci in 1998 with the blessing of the Bishop of Osječko polje and Baranja, Lukijan Vladulov.[2]

During this period, in September 16, 2000, Bishop Lukijan ordained him a Monk in the rank of Stavrophore, only a single day after which, he declared him a Hierodeacon.[3]
Education[edit]
After graduating from St. Arsenije's in 2004, Bishop Lukijan gave the Hierodeacon Jovan the blessing to study Theology at the University of Belgrade, which he graduated from in 2009.[4]
After being elected an Archdeacon by Bishop Lukijan in 2009, Bishop Jovan attended the Hellenic College Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology, USA where he completed his master's studies in 2011. He then went on to study the German language in Regensburg and Schwabisch Hall in Germany and Greek in Thessaloniki.[5]
After his brief stay in Greece and Germany, he went on to begin his doctoral studies in Belgrade, during which he became an Exchange student in Munster, Germany, where he stayed with certain interruptions.[6]
Post-monastic career[edit]
As a priest and secretary[edit]
In 2014, at the Church of St. Demetrius, Dalj, Bishop Lukijan ordained him with the title of Hieromonk and honored him with the office of Protosyncellus.[7][8]
From 2018 onwards, with the blessings of Grigorije Durić, he has been a Priest at the Eparchy of Düsseldorf and all of Germany.[9]
Bishophoric see[edit]
He was finally declared a Bishop by the Patriarch of Serbia Porfirije on October 9, 2021 in St. Michael's Cathedral, Belgrade and was given the offices of Titular bishop of Zahumlje and all of Herzegovina, as well as that of Auxillary bishop of Düsseldorf and all of Germany.[10][9]
With the blessings of Bishop Grigorije, he started serving at the Monastery of Dormition of the Theotokos in Himmelsthur in 2024.[11]
Personal life[edit]
Bishop Jovan speaks 4 languages: Serbo-Croatian, German, English and Greek; since moving to Hildesheim, he has started giving the Divine Liturgy in German on Saturdays and occasionally holds multilingual sermons on Sundays.[12]
While he himself has no social media, his sermons are occasionally posted on the Instagram page of the Himmelsthur Monastery.[citation needed]
