- Comment: Some family members seem notable, but the family itself is in question. There are two references for the same site and no such page in Hungarian Wikipedia. Suitskvarts (talk) 16:55, 24 January 2024 (UTC)
The house of Bolgár rose to prominence in 1539 when they were ennobled as the stewards and landowners of the village Inám, the former estates of both the Szobi and Werbőczy families[1]. This was done by King János to 'reaffirm their noble rights as an ancient Székely family'[2].
The family took a very active role in Hungarian society and politics, becoming servants, clerks, clergy, bureaucrats, and politicians.
Notably, two members of the family, András and János, took an part in the 1705 Szécsény diet[1][2]. Where Prince Francis II Rákóczi was elected Prince of Transylvania and attempted to topple Habsburg hegemony over Hungary.
Another notable member of the house, Curia judge Ferencz (born in 1851), first worked in the military, later a specialist writer, newspaper editor, then member of parliament, vice-president of the House of Representatives in 1905, and from 1906, state secretary of the Ministry of National Defence of Austria-Hungary.
