Situated in the mountainous western regions of Somaliland, Bonn is a district within the Salel region. Known for nurturing creative and problem-solving individuals with captivating stories, it holds the title of the largest town in Salel region and the second-largest in the broader western regions, just behind Borama. Founded as a home by Osman Wabbery, the town proudly hosts its own universities, hospitals, and a thorough townwide water system.
The town's population is diverse, including clans like Rer Kidifaal, Rer Farah Xoosh, Duule, Ba'aso, Bageediyo ( subclans of Rer Ahamad Yonis), Rer Dudub, Osmangoulo subclans of the Jibril Yonis, and the Rer Mohamud subclan of the Bahabar 'Eli, Mahad 'Ase. Adding to the cultural richness are the Hebjire, Aliganoun, Musafin, and Hasansa'ad subclans of the Habar Afan, forming a mosaic of tribes within the greater Gadabursi tribe Dir clan.
