Boris Janicek, born on July 5, 1973, in Villiers-le-Bel (Val d'Oise), is a Franco-Israeli entrepreneur and business leader.[1] specialized in international brand management[2].

Boris Janicek graduated from Sciences Po Paris in 1999, after studying international law at the University of Paris Panthéon-Assas and Sapienza University of Rome.

Career[edit]

Joining L'Oréal in 1999, Boris Janicek held various marketing and business development roles in various geographical areas (Israel, the United States, France, Eastern Europe, and Central Asia). In 2008, he assumed a general management position in the Netherlands, followed by the role of Deputy General Manager of the Professional Products Division for Europe in 2011.

In 2013, he departed from the L'Oréal Group and established State of Brand[3], a strategic and operational brand management consulting agency[4]. During this time, Boris Janicek undertook a strategic assignment for the Estée Lauder Companies, related to the Clinique brand in India and the Middle East. Subsequently, he joined Clinique[5], initially overseeing operations in the Benelux region and later becoming the head of the French subsidiary[6].

In 2017, Boris Janicek was appointed CEO of Maison Ladurée[7] at the Holder Group[8], also earning a nomination for the First 100 Days Award recognizing the exceptional performance of leaders during the first 100 days of their tenure.[9]

In 2019, he joined LVMH and its Moët Hennessy division to head Wine Estates, overseeing a international portfolio of vineyards in New Zealand (Cloudy Bay), Australia (Cape Mentelle), China (Ao Yun), Argentina (Terrazas de los Andes and Cheval des Andes), the United States (Newton), Spain (Bodega Numanthia), and France (Château Galoupet and Château d'Esclans).

Based in Israel since 2021, Boris Janicek returned to the Estée Lauder Companies to lead the Estée Lauder brand in the local market[10], subsequently being appointed global Chief Brand Officer of the Sabon brand within the Groupe Rocher.

Commitments[edit]

Boris Janicek presided over Club 21e Siècle[11], a non-profit organization aiming to provide French society with a positive vision of diversity[12] and equal opportunities[13]. He also teaches at Sciences Po Paris, where he established the Brands International Management lecture series at the School of Management and Impact, and at EDHEC Business School.
