Boris Milosic is a Croatian freediver, known for his achievements in competitive freediving, and as a distinguished SSI instructor. Born on April 5, 1996, in Zams, Austria, Milosic has established himself as a World Championship medalist, a European Championship medalist, and a former world record holder. His efforts have not only highlighted his exceptional skills and dedication but have also significantly contributed to the promotion of freediving in Croatia and internationally.

Early Life[edit]

Boris passion for the water began at a young age. At just seven years old, he was already exploring the underwater life of the Adriatic Sea, catching octopuses with his bare hands and by the age of 14, he discovered freediving as a professional sport. By the age of 16 he was already taking part at International championships, becoming the youngest person in competitive Freediving History to achieve a breathhold of over 6minutes in December 2012. Three months later he went on, becoming the youngest person to break the 150m barrier in DYN with a dive of 160m. His early exposure to the aquatic environment laid the foundation for what would become a decorated career in freediving.

Freediving Career[edit]

Boris Milosic began gaining attention in the freediving world after setting a notable AIDA World Record in the Dynamic No Fins (DYNB) category. On February 23, 2019, he swam 234 meters in Belgrade, setting the first AIDA World Record for this category. This accomplishment was not only a personal milestone but also a significant event in the history of competitive freediving.

Milosic has also demonstrated his abilities in various international competitions. At the European Championship in Istanbul in 2019, he secured a bronze medal with a 228-meter swim in the DYNB category. His performance solidified his reputation as a top competitor in Europe.

Furthering his achievements, Milosic earned another bronze medal at the World Championship in Belgrade on June 15, 2022. Competing in the Static Apnea (STA) category, he recorded a time of 8:03, showcasing his versatility and endurance across different freediving disciplines.

Milosic’s efforts culminated in a groundbreaking achievement on March 1, 2020, when he set a new Guinness World Record for the longest underwater walk with a single breath. During this record-breaking attempt, he walked an astounding 96 meters (314 ft 11.52 in) underwater in Split, Croatia, surpassing the previous record by 16 meters.

Beyond his competitive career, Boris Milosic is also the co-founder and owner of Freedive Experience, a Freediving school located in Split/Croatia, promoting Freediving and educating existing and future Freedivers.
