Brand Bollywood Downunder also known as Brand Bollywood is an Australian feature documentary. Spanning from 1897 to 2023 Brand Bollywood Downunder is the story of ‘Bollywoodisation’ and globalisation of Indian popular cinema through its love affair with Australia. Delve beneath the colourful exterior of Hollywood’s biggest rival to discover the artistry, organised chaos, music, dance, politics, and unique characters that have led to Bollywood taking Australia, and the world, by storm.The film is a homage subculture of Bollywood in form and in content.[1]

Brand Bollywood Downunder is an educational, funny, whimsical, and entertaining look at Bollywoodisation and globalisation of popular Hindi Cinema featuring interviews with icons of Hindi cinema along with rare behind the scenes of Bollywood stars filming at picture postcard locations in Australia and the rest of the world[2]

Brand Bollywood Downunder opened in theatres around Australia on 2nd November 2023 to critical acclaim and good reviews by some of the leading Australian film critics like David Stratton and Karl Quinn. The Film had its international premier in the prestigious International Film Festival of India Goa in the cinema of the world seciton on 28th November 2023[3]

The film has an IMDB Rating of 9.8 and was screened around Parliaments in Australia to trigger conversations about Australia India cultural links.

The film was directed by Anupam Sharma . Produced by Anupam Sharma, Claire Haywood, Deepti Sachdeva, Lisa Duff, and Janine Barnes. The Film was written by Anupam Sharma and Karin Steininger. Karin has previously editing OScar and Emmy winning film Remembering Anne Frank
