Development[edit]

On August 15, 2022, it was announced that Tubi has given a green light to Breaking Bear, a new adult animated comedy series created by Julien Nitzberg, who previously served as a director on the documentary, The Wild and Wonderful Whites of West Virginia, and he is a writer and consulting producer on the Cinemax animated original series Mike Judge Presents: Tales from the Tour Bus. Nitzberg serves as an executive producer and showrunner, along with Tom DeLonge, Jeff Holland, Stan Spry, Eric Scott Woods and Bradford Bricken, which are the executive producers of the show.[1] [2]

Currently in pre-production, the series comes from Cartel Entertainment and Tom DeLonge's To the Stars Media. The series is a parody of various mobster dramas, and it is described as Yogi Bear meets The Sopranos.

In February 2024, 9 Story Media Group announced that it will take over production on the series.[3]
