Brent A. Braun was born on Veteran’s Day, 1950, in Chicago, Illinois.

Early life and family[edit]

Braun was born in Chicago, Illinois, on Veteran's Day. Brent Braun is the second son of Harold Braun, a certified public accountant, and Alberta “Birdie” Braun, a homemaker. In 1959, the family relocated to North Hills, California, following Harold’s work commitments. Brent’s mother was diagnosed with breast cancer, and he devoted himself to caring for her when she had the illness.

His stepmother, Rudd Dodd, was the widow of Jimmie Dodd, the songwriter behind the “Mickey Mouse March” and host of the original Mickey Mouse Club. The Mousegetars, custom-made guitars for Jimmie Dodd, became part of Braun’s family legacy.

Career[edit]

Military and police service[edit]

While pursuing his education at California State University Northridge and Southwestern Law School, Braun served as a member of the California Air National Guard. He also wore the uniform of the Los Angeles Police Department, where he was the Reserve Officer of the Year for the Operations Valley Bureau and North Hollywood Area in 1975. Braun also was part of the Los Angeles County Institutional Inspection Commission, advising supervisors on administration within the Sheriff’s and Probation Department’s Custody facilities.

Other ventures[edit]

As a lawyer, Braun was recognized as the 2022 METNEWS Person of the Year. Inspired by his mother’s resilience, Braun actively participated in cancer awareness and research initiatives.
